Our Outputs & Organisation

Main Network Outputs
The main Network output is the R&D Automotive Technology Roadmap describing technology expectations, needs and priorities for automotive research based on selected future mobility scenarios. The roadmap is intended to aid co-operation between industry, research institutions and universities and to contribute to the definition of future European research initiatives. The output of the network will be disseminated via an international event, as well as this public web site and publications.

The Technology Roadmap has three main objectives:
1. Analyse and classify the potential of enabling and break-through technologies and indicate timeframes for demonstration and phasing-in up to and beyond the year 2020.
2. To initiate basic research activities for the development of these technologies by universities and R&D organisations to enable product development by the automotive industry.
3. Input for future European Commission Framework Programmes through more transparency in automotive R&D carried out in the past and in progress.

The range of applications for a Technology Roadmap depends on the target groups using the information. Three target user groups have been identified that requires the Technology Roadmap in various forms of complexity and detail: research institutions and industry, policy makers and the general public. Network Organisation
FURORE is a project initiated by EARPA, the European Automotive Research Partners Association, and financed by the European Commission within the 5th Framework Programme.

FURORE activities are co-ordinated by AVL and guided by a Network Steering Committee in close co-operation with the European Commission, the Working Group Powertrain of EUCAR, CONCAWE and other organisations dealing with automotive research.

FURORE is also regarded as an essential input to the activities of the European Road Transport Research Advisory Council, ERTRAC.
